Street Organics began in 2011 as a tiny Co-Op store in Melbourne Street, Murrumbeena (Australia). After seeing first-hand the powerful effects of organic food & a healthy lifestyle for her son Gryffin – born with Down syndrome, Kristen Morrison became a passionate advocate for toxin-free living and organic food – for healthier people and a healthier planet. Today Street Organics has a store in Melbourne & Auckland, New Zealand.
Kristen documented the process and incredible results of her journey from fashion designer to total immersion in research of whole foods, nutrition and natural therapies, in her first book ‘Naturally Better’. It has sold in 30 countries, with countless children’s lives improved by following her holistic lead for children of all abilities. You can read the full story and purchase her book in our Cafes or at NaturallyBetterKids.com
The original focus of the food business was fresh, home delivered organic fruit, vegetables, nuts & seeds.
With the massive and inspiring trend towards organic food worldwide, we’ve evolved into a Café & Wholefoods Store – one in Malvern, Victoria and another in Takapuna, Auckland, serving a range of organic snacks, meals and drinks to dine in or take away. We make from scratch and retail some of our most popular products like fresh almond milk, bone broth, cakes, treats, probiotic drinks and take-home meals for quick and easy healthy solutions. We also host regular dining and wellness events, including our vegan high tea and feasts which are popular with non-vegans alike!
We are passionate about keeping our food authentically healthy, so we refuse to use ingredients containing GMOs or palm oils, we never microwave and we use recyclable glass for our packaging wherever possible. So many of us are time poor, we decided to prepare convenience foods the way we would want them at home – organic, gluten & dairy free. ‘TV dinners’ in compostable boxes… who would have thought! We’re also passionate about helping the planet so we use eco-friendly practices within our stores where we can and continue to improve on this.
The Co-Op remains as a bulk whole foods service to help keep the cost of eating organic food to a minimum for Street Organics Members and the fresh produce home delivery service has been relaunched in Melbourne.
The Melbourne store is family run, as was always our vision, and we could not be more excited to have our New Zealand ‘family’ booming Street Organics in its second home across the ditch!
